The BioQatar Symposium 2008 aims to provide a select group of corporations, start-ups, universities and venturing organizations with deep insight into Qatar's development strategy and partnership opportunities. With a focus on cancer and diabetes, the Symposium will lay the path for concrete and implementable proposals for biomedical ventures to be initiated.
The objective of this Symposium is to provide an understanding of Qatar's strategy, infrastructure and support for commercializing cancer and diabetes technologies, and to initiate proposals for such projects and ventures.
Over the two days, the Symposium will engage the participants in the following discussions:
- State-of-the-art in biotechnology for treating diseases;
- Commercially viable work in translational and clinical settings;
- Possibilities of setting up biotech companies and facilities in QSTP and QF;
- Network to overcome challenges for these establishments.
An expected and desired outcome is to grow the number of biotechnology companies in Qatar.
